My will vs. His Will

This is the start of the journey for the Godly Business Woman Magazine. Surrendering to His will has not only changed my professional life, but it has changed my personal life as well.

I was working for Corporate America, putting in long hours and getting home late every night. One night my husband came to me and said he was not happy with all the time I was spending at the office and felt I was neglecting the duties that I had to our family. I was devastated that he felt that way, but it forced me to take a good look at what I was doing. Our daughter is getting married in a few months, goes to college and works. I felt that since she was grown up I wasn't as needed at home now. My husband wanted me to leave this job. That was not too appealing to me at that time because I was making good money, had the benefits, profit sharing, expense account, and title to go with it. What would I do?

I had a few job offers immediately and my husband told me that I really needed to take some time to figure out what God wanted me to do. I stayed home for about two months and prayed everyday, "Lord what do you want me to do?" What can I do for you?

Over the years of my professional life, God was training and preparing me to be able to publish a magazine. My desire was to produce a Real Estate Magazine. I knew I could make lots of money with that. My husband forced me to take a few months and really pray about what God wants for me. He reminded me that money was not a good enough reason to start a magazine and risk our life savings on. Why not use the talents that he has given me and do something for Him? Now that's a good risk! That is where it all started.

I started praying every day about what type of a publication He would want me to do. Every time I prayed about it, I felt more peace. God directed me to all the appropriate people for counsel and advice and helped me to make the decision that yes, I can do this for Him. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Phil 4:13

My prayers started to get more specific. Each time I prayed about a need for the magazine, God would answer it. I spent weeks praying for guidance before ever hiring anyone. In every situation, it was so evident that the Lord was making the decisions, not me! And with God's help, I was able to find a team of dedicated, godly professionals that all have the desire to minister to women. Our goal is to inspire educated decision making and harmony for women. We want to become a resource on which all women can depend. All of the articles that we print in the Godly Business Woman Magazine are a result of the feed back we get from you. The heartbeat of The Godly Business Woman Magazine is two-fold: to help educate and inspire women, and to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We feel very blessed and are so thankful that God is using this publication to meet the need of women all over the country.
